Description
A blue arced tab inscribed "AIRBORNE" in white above a blue shield all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) white border 2 1/2 inches (6.35 cm) in width and 3 1/4 inches (8.26 cm) in height overall, the shield bearing a white stylized parachute surmounted on the lines by a Taeguk fimbriated gold all bordered by three conjoined gold lightning flashes and superimposed by a black dagger point down.
Symbolism
Red, white and blue are our National Colors; gold is emblematic of honor and achievement. The stylized parachute denotes unique quick response capabilities while the Taeguk represents the Republic of Korea and the unit's theater of operations. The three lightning bolts are conjoined to symbolize the joint nature of the organization while highlighting teamwork and cooperation among the Army, Navy and Air Force. They also underscore the three methods of insertion/exfiltration of forces: land, sea and air. The black dagger alludes to the specialized capabilities and training of the unit's soldiers.
