Description
A shield shaped embroidered item blazoned as follows: Per fess rayed of thirteen Gules and Or over Azure, overall a phoenix wings displayed forming an “S” Sable all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Black border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 3 inches (7.62 cm) in width.

Symbolism
The red and gold sun rays above the Azure (oriental blue) are replicated from the state flag of Arizona and are symbolic of the current location of the Brigade. The seven gold sun rays represent the seven southeastern states where the former unit operated along with the seven intelligence disciplines. The six red sun rays represent the steps supporting the intelligence process facilitating situational understanding and decision making. The phoenix silhouette is directly tied to the unit’s insignia. The shape of the phoenix is symbolic of the continuous process of intelligence directly supporting operations and is also symbolic of the intelligence warfighting function’s ability to leverage the intelligence enterprise at every echelon.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 12 March 2013. (TIOH Dwg. No. A-1-1086)
